Fernando Mello Brum (Rio de Janeiro, 1989) lives and works in Lisbon.
His paintings result from careful observation of daily life, but they do not represent an objective reality, instead encouraging a subjective and poetic reading of the landscape. His work also explores issues inherent to painting itself, such as layering, chromatic balance, and materiality.
He graduated in Design from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (2013) and completed several painting courses at EAV – Parque Lage (2015 – 2021). He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
He participated in the Duplex Air residency program in Lisbon (2024) and the coGalleries residency program in Berlin (2019).
Solo exhibitions: Primavera em Júpiter, samba arte contemporânea, Rio de Janeiro (2022); The Land, Scape, curated by Fernando Cocchiarale, Z42 Arte, Rio de Janeiro (2019); Stille, coGalleries, Berlin (2019); Otro Jardín, Galeria TAC, Lima (2017) and Paisagens, curated by Isabel Portella, Hostel Contemporâneo, Rio de Janeiro (2017).
